An aging Lear decides to divide his kingdom amongst his three daughters, giving each share based on their professed love for him. When the youngest cannot outdo her sisters’ professions, though her love is greatest, Lear disowns her giving her share to the other two daughters. When his thankless daughters fail to keep their agreement, Lear’s hurt and rage drive him into the wilderness with his disabled fool.On the fringes of his own society, Lear learns the folly of his own pride and, through the return of his disowned daughter, that love is displayed in action more than words.

Special Gallery talk by the artist about his life and work and dealing with visual challenges. Thursday August 19th at 10:30 a.m.
George Mendoza paints with a passion, revealing a unique inner vision and confidence, coupled with insight and creativity. His work, abstract in nature and brightly colored, reflects his current
physical “sight” intertwined with his dreams, memories, and emotional experiences. Experiencing loss of vision at a young age from an incurable eye disease did not deter George
Mendoza from pursuing his creative yearnings. With inspiration and encouragement from a priest, he began to paint what he could perceive visually and focus on how he could express his visions artistically.
George Mendoza is an artist who challenges his adversities, becoming an Olympic contender, an inspirational speaker, a published writer, a painter and, most notably, a man who is not defined by restrictions but by accomplishments.
Mr. Mendoza lives in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Images from his paintings have recently been selected as fabric designs for Westminster Fibers and are currently available in quilting stores
nationwide. He continues to paint and show his art work in galleries and museums. His work exhibits a story of optimism, determination and persistence. This exhibition presents an insight into a vibrant, light-filled, and unpredictable world of an artist with visual challenges.
